I always think that social network sites, like Youtube, Facebook, Twitter are best platform for FMCG brands/products, given the “social” point of them. Today I read this article from WARC (http://www.warc.com/News/TopNews.asp?ID=26818&Origin=WARCNewsEmail), talking about Retail, grocery and fashion brand dominate on social media, that’s it. Starbucks and Coca-Cola top the list with the index score 69.2% and 53.1% respectively, in terms of leveraging emerging digital platforms to engage target audience. Constant update and deals are the main attractions, I also believe the entertaining content plus so easy to communicate with other like-minded consumers, are the reasons why they are making significant achievement on the digital landscape.
The founder of the research company commented it’s interesting to see established offline brands perform strongly. Yes, social networks indeed helped these brands to tap into wider audiences and strengthen communications with existing consumers. You know what? What consumers were doing offline before now almost all have online versions. More than that, with the assistant of the media, they can do a lot of things that they like but wouldn’t be able to do previously. So, here we go, jump on it and you will never look back.
